There were scenes of joy as InnerCity Mission partners from Christ Embassy Abakaliki 1 gathered to donate grocery items during the Food Drive campaign. Inspired by the preachings of the man of God, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome the members of the Church were out in droves doing Christ’s work on earth.
Coming Together To Deliver
Remembering what was said in the Gospel these people were excited to put into action the teachings of the beloved founder Reverend Dr. Chris Oyakhilome. One participant recalls the Gospel of John 3:17:-
“If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
These people are really fulfilling the mission of the Gospel as they brought a plentiful and bountiful supply of food. There were piles of staples such as rice, yams, noodles, and palm oil. People were bringing boxes of food showing their pride and enthusiasm for the project.
Where Did This Amazing Event Take Place?
This event was part of efforts to reduce hunger in the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State, South-East Nigeria. This admirable event took place on September 29th, at the LoveWorld Complex, Abakaliki. They were partnered by NGO, The InnerCity Mission. Part of this organization’s mission is to ensure all people have access to food. One participant explained that when people are full they relax and are more receptive to ideas and education. The mission is to enable some of the poorest people to break the cycle of poverty.
The scenes of joy during the food drive echo the sentiments of Romans 12:11-13:-
“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need.”
The participants came together and as they gave they knew that they are blessed to be able to give. In organizing something so monumental another participant enthused that the Pastor made us see that we can do it. In his sermons, he teaches us to dig deep inside and achieve your dreams. What better way to show gratitude to your teacher than to act upon his message.
On receiving the food items, esteemed Pastor Eunice Oyeyemi, Pastor of CE Abakaliki 1, spoke from her heart and thanked the person who made this all possible the man of God, Reverend Dr. Chris Oyakhilome. In establishing the InnerCity Mission to meet the needs of the poor and needy all over the world partners are able to spread the Good News to those who were hungry. She thanked the partners who made them see the possibilities and the brethren of the Church who worked tirelessly so the food drive was beyond a success. The families who need support will get that support. Hallelujah.
On reflection what Pastor Chris recently urged us to is:-
“Let the passion to spread the Gospel around the world burn in your heart like never before.”
And this food drive has shown us that:-
“He gave us the Holy Spirit, so we can minister His grace, wisdom, salvation, righteousness, love, healing, wholeness and beauty in a dark world, to a broken humanity.”
